[The first thing that one is able to see on the screen is fire. A decent amount of it. Flames are lighting up a few trees and the ruins of a building that could have already been ruins, could have been whole before--it's hard to tell. Destruction, simply. Thankfully, it's confined to a small area.

The Master is sitting off to the side, absentmindedly twirling his laser screwdriver in his hand. He does not look happy in the least. It's mostly anger, but there's a twinge of sadness there as well. But just a very slight twinge, almost completely unnoticable.]

Doctor, Doctor, Doctor. [He's muttering to himself. Even that is hard to hear, as he's not close to the screen.] My dear Doctor. Just you wait until you get here. Things are going to be a little different.

[A pause, and he grins slightly.]

Playtime is going to change. I'll make it.

Burning is hardly a fun thing. [As he knows personally, from back on Sarn.] I don't intend on staying long enough for that.

I should think not. Catching a bit of hot wax or oil on one's finger is bad enough.

Do you think that the fire will burn itself out, or should we look for assistance? It would not do to have it spread to the inhabited areas of the city, or drive the beasts from their homes.

You were the one in the library the other day, reading all those books so quickly, were you not? Did you ever find one that suited you?

No. I am a Time Lord. Basically put, to people like you, an alien. Not from your planet.

[She takes a long moment to process this.]

A lord of time.... Then this place must make more sense to you than it does to most here, since there are people from so very many times here. To my reckoning it seems impossible, but I admit I know little about such things.

From which planet do you come, Lord Saxon? From the Moon? It measures time as it shifts from crescent to fullness and back again.

That close to your planet? No, no. I hail from a planet called Gallifrey. Well. Did. It pretty much went bye-bye not all that long ago.

[And her expression shifts back to horrified.]

It is gone completely? How is such a thing possible? You have my deepest sympathies, Lord Saxon. To lose your home like that, all your family and friends....

[She can't even imagine. It's too big for her to imagine.]

A war. A very rather nasty one that ended with one of our own essentially destroying both planets involved, including our own. Charming, really. [Pause.] Oh, I do miss Gallifrey, but I was never really fond of most people there. The only one that mattered--the one other Time Lord in existence, still--left there centuries ago.

[War, she can relate to. It sounds like a very large-scale version of the feud between her family and the Montagues.]

How horrible! To think that one of your own caused such destruction. It must be difficult to bear. And, you have been abandoned by a friend? Most horrible of all.

[Juliet, you are such a bleeding heart.]

It's absolutely terrible. Breaks my hearts, really. [He smirks slightly.] Good thing he's still alive!

[She can only imagine. It's difficult enough without Romeo here, and she knows that her family is at least safe.]

Then, perhaps he will find his way here, and the two of you may come to terms with what has happened. Surely whatever occurred is not irreconcilable, not now that you only have each other from home. And he may realize the wrong he has done, and apologize straight away. I know not your specific circumstances, but often times men act rashly, and come to regret it later, but do not know how best to express their regret. Would the same feelings apply to Time Lords, Lord Saxon?

[They've battled for centuries. No matter how much the Doctor may have seemed to want it now, they were way past reconciliations. Things had gone too far. The Master didn't even really want reconciliation, which is why the Doctor's forgiveness had scared him so.]

Oh, yes, even for centuries and centuries. And--I've no doubt he'll come. He always comes running these days if I try hard enough. Predictable.
