[The Master does not exactly look as if he's in the best of states. His normally immacuate shirt is stained with blood, a smear of it dried on his cheek. But it isn't his. His eyes are tired and he looks clearly worn down, exhausted.

Defeated.

Even his voice is hoarse when he speaks.]

A public service announcement to whoever is friends with the Doctor. He's---incapacitated at the moment, and will be for a little while. Knowing this place, hopefully no more than a few days, but I can't make any guarantees. And before I start getting the automatic blame--I'm looking at you, Harkness--I had nothing to do with it. If I killed him, it'd be in a much more dignified fashion than this.

You'll just have to wait a bit for your savior of the universe to get back to his usual business.

[He looks offscreen for several moments before swallowing, leaning in and quickly shutting the PCD off afterward.]

[Juliet looks horrified for a moment. The Doctor, Lord Saxon's dear Doctor, dead? Her heart goes out to both of them. More death. More useless death.]

Lord Saxon.... My condolences. What may I do to help you?

[And then the rest of his words sink in, and her gaze hardens for a moment.]

Should anyone be so callous as to blame you for this, I shall have words with them.

It's quite alright, Juliet. Whatever opinions are held about me aren't going to be changed anytime soon, nor do I care about them.

[He rubs at his eyes, looking utterly deflated.]

Thank you for the concern. To answer your question, there isn't much that can be done. All I have to do is wait.

Those who hold such opinions may hold their tongues as well. You may not care about their words, Lord Saxon, but to hear them is not something you need right now.

I will respectfully disagree. There is much that can be done. To wait is only a part of it.

[That Juliet is so willing to stick up for him does lighten his hearts just a little.]

What else, then, is there?

You must clean up, to begin. And make certain both you and he are safe. And you must eat, and rest, and keep your friends close to hand. If Lords of Time pray, then you must do that as well. If you do not have such a tradition, I shall be certain to include you both in my own prayers.

Are you at home, Lord Saxon? You and the Doctor?

[She will not, will not refer to the man as a body. Not when he'll come back. Not when it might upset Lord Saxon further.]

...clean up. I suppose that ought to be done. I don't much feel like sitting around in his blood, and I don't need to hear him complain about waking up in it either. As for prayers, though, we have none. I have none, especially. I'm a bit of a nihilist, really.

[She doesn't know the word 'nihilist', but the Latin in it gives her an idea of what he means.]

I shall pray for all of us, then.

Would you mind company? I will help you to clean, and to tend what needs tending.

[Unlike with Lady Raphael, here, Juliet can do something for her friends. If he allows her to. Even if he doesn't, there are measures she can take.]

[Instinctively he wants to merely spurn her. Mope on his own, take care of this business by himself and shut everyone else out. But he's so tired and so vulnerable, he can't quite keep this up by himself.]

You would come by even if I said no, wouldn't you, Juliet?

I would not do something if you expressly forbade it, Lord Saxon. But you would likely find something on your doorstep from me, were I not allowed to visit.

[In other words, "yes." And that slight movement of the picture is her rising to get her cloak.]

[Anyone else he would deny. But Juliet...]

It's fine, then. I will get the two of us cleaned up a little before you get here.

Because 'dignified' involves keeping him in a birdcage for half a year, right? [There's not too much malice in those words, however, Jack just looks tired and a bit hurt.]

That would be business between he and myself. Business neither of us really care about anymore.

[A pause.] Where is he?

[She gives him a smile as she ends the feed and gathers a few things into her usual carrying basket. It isn't long before she's knocking on the door, only slightly out of breath, bundled up in her cloak.]

Do not do this today, sir. Can you not see he is grieving?

Alright, good.

He's not the only one here who cares about the Doctor, alright?

I know that he is not. But saying such things to him will help neither of you. Please, please set your anger at him aside, just for now. For the Doctor's sake if nothing else. Please, just - do not say mean-spirited things. Think them all you like, but do not say them to him.

[He has enough time to strip the Doctor, clean the blood off of him, and dress him in pajamas before she gets there. The wounds still look bad, but they're healing despite the lifelessless of the man. The Master's still in his bloodstained shirt, however, when he hears the knock downstairs. Whatever. He pulls the blankets up to the Doctor's shoulders before going to answer the door.]

Juliet. Apologies, I've yet to clean up myself.

There is no need to apologize, Lord Saxon.

[She looks over the shirt carefully. He hasn't acted injured at all, but....]

Have you any wounds which need dressing?

No. I killed the creature right away, after--well. After it got the jump on the Doctor.

[After it got the jump on.... He'd had to watch some wild beast kill his dearest one? She can't even imagine witnessing such a thing. She wraps her arms around him without a second thought.]

[This is...odd. No one hugs him. No one outside of the Doctor has honestly hugged him in longer than he can remember. A little awkwardly, he returns it.]

[The way he returns her embrace reminds her of Tybalt, always so cautious or awkward with showing affection. It makes her hug him more tightly. Tybalt never liked to show any sort of emotional weakness, and she imagines Lord Saxon is much the same. But there are times when such things can be done safely, and she is determined he will have that time and place, if he wishes it.]

You really are too generous with your kindness, dear Juliet.

[She pulls away enough to look up at him.]

I would not let my friends stay alone in a time of need. What may I do to help, Lord Saxon?

I'm not sure, really. I ought to stay at the idiot's side until he wakes up, but I don't want to subject you to sitting next to a dead body.

You must get cleaned up first. You do not wish him to worry upon waking. And you must eat something, or drink something, if you cannot eat just yet. It will help.

Right, then. Feel free to make yourself at home while I clean up. [Another quick hug, and he lets go, heading off to bathe and change quickly.]

[She smiles when he hugs her of his own accord. That is a good sign. And then, she turns to hunt out the kitchen and see what she can do about making food and tea.]

[It takes him a little while, but he eventually returns in a fresh set of clothing, cleaned off of all the blood. He's checked the Doctor's room a few times. Still nothing. With a sigh, he makes his way back to Juliet.]

...Oh, fine.

What's the matter with your friend? I can heal, if he needs it--

He's dead.

He'll wake up soon enough, though.

[He'll find her in the kitchen, fiddling with various things as she arranges a tea and snack tray. She's gone snooping through cabinets to find things that might be appealing. She's also attracted the attention of the two kittens, who are winding their way around her legs and under her skirts, which causes her to giggle occasionally, and glance down to speak to them.]

You are worried as well, are you not? There is little about which to worry. He will be fine.

[She reaches down to pick up Koschei, cradling him in her arms, and scritches behind his ears.]

I cannot understand you the way he is able, but he will be up and about soon enough, and then he shall tell us what you are thinking. In the meantime, you and Theta must be good for Lord Saxon. You must be sweet and kind to him, and not make him cross.

[She exhales slowly. That...was far easier than she'd thought.]

Thank you. Truly, thank you.

[It's only because she mentioned the Doctor, really. He may have his disagreements with the man, all sorts of issues, but he does still respect him. That's never going to change.]
