Ah, it's been nice to be back in my own body. Last week wasn't particularly what I would call pleasant, though we've had worse tricks played on us by the Animus. Not that I'm any more pleased with them, of course.

It really is strange to watch seasons pass by sequentially in an Earth fashion. Time Lord and all, I hardly lived my lives in anything close to a linear path through time. How...quaint. A little dull and so slow but I suppose it has a bit of charm to it.

I am looking forward to proper snow. Ooh, we can even build snowmen, have snowball fights, it'll just be like childhood.

[He clears his throat, trying to cover up the bright color splashed across his face.]

Weeeeell, it all started on a empty spaceship...I was with Rose and Mickey the Idiot then. [He smiles slightly in recollection.]

[Not going to bother asking. He just waits for him to continue.]

[He pauses.] Long or short version?

We found this Victorian fireplace in the ship, and on the other side was a little girl. I found a way to get in. [A huge smile spreads across his face.] Victorian France! It was a window through time to France in the 1700's! Ahh, it was genius.

....And hooooow is a fireplace suddenly a time traveling machine?

Time window. [Look, it just happens, okay.]

Aaanyway. This little girl had a broken clock, but something was still ticking. There were these...[He pauses, trying to think of a way to describe them.] A bit like robots. Weeeeell, they were robots. But clocks too. There'd been one hiding under Reinette's bed, and it answered only to her. And it had been scanning her brain. Anyway. It said she wasn't complete. So I left, went back to tell Rose and Mickey. But there was a time discrepancy. It had only been a few minutes for me, a week for Reinette, and five hours for my companions.

[It sounds a bit on the silly side, but he listens intently anyway. The kittens seem to find the story intriguing enough, as they've hopped onto the bed and are sitting there, looking at the Doctor and listening as well.]

We went back to wandering the ship and found human parts wired into it. We had to assume they were what was left of the crew. I went back through the fireplace. It was Reinette's life still, but decades had passed. She was all grown up. [He pauses slightly to smile, recollecting how she snogged him up against the fireplace.] Mmm.

... [He's giving him a look right now. A "you are saying something that I am not liking very much" look.] "Mmm", what?

Just...I found out she was Madame de Pompadour. [He smiles.] She thought I was her imaginary friend. She really knew how to make herself look beautiful, you know?

[He hesitates a moment.] She was in love with me.

How terribly unsurprising. You and your Earth girls.

[He keeps a straight face, but doesn't look teeeeeerribly amused at this part of the story. He motions for him to just continue on.]
