character relationships.
The Doctor is essentially the center of the Master's universe. Once the best of friends on Gallifrey when they were children, the two of them have become rivals to the point of essentially being enemies. Bitter, upset, and betrayed at the Doctor abandoning him on Gallifrey, the Master's spent most of his life causing trouble for the other Time Lord...though it may just be a cry for attention. The Master loves him as much as he hates him, still, even after several centuries of battling. Right now, they've got an odd relationship going. Basically friends, though there's a ton of tension there of every kind imaginable. They've still somehow managed to become oddly domestic, however.

See above for the general story; it's the Doctor, after all. The Master is still attempting to figure this new Doctor out. He isn't completely sure if he likes him or not--he certainly isn't his Doctor, but he supposes he could be worse. The fact that this Doctor killed him in Adstringendum, however--even if it was under the influence of the Animus--has put an incredible damper on his view toward him, though. He isn't exactly over it.

The Doctor [Eleven] ([livejournal.com profile] haspaceteeth)
Somehow, beyond all logic, Juliet has essentially become the Master's best friend in Adstringendum aside from the Doctor. Though he originally saw her as a naive plaything, he's grown incredibly fond over her over the several months he's spent in the city, and has become something of an overprotective older brother. She's just about the only one who insists on seeing the good in him, and for someone to honestly think so nicely of him strikes him as. Well. Nice.

Juliet Capulet ([livejournal.com profile] capuletnomore)
As a rule of thumb, the Doctor's companions aren't exactly people he likes. Still, Amy isn't so bad, for one of his pets anyway. While he won't physically harm her for now, he has no qualms about secretly messing with her just for fun. And to get to the Doctor, of course, as all things end up.

Amy Pond ([livejournal.com profile] hatebeingright)
The "freak", as the Master likes to call him. As a fixed point in time, he can barely even stand to look at Jack sometimes. Their last sizable stint together involved the Master imprisoning, torturing, and killing him constantly for a year over the Valiant. Right now, his feelings towards Jack haven't exactly changed a bit, and he wishes he could just go back to the aforementioned fun. As well, Jack is a threat--one of the few people here who knew who he truly is and can blow his cover, so the Master keeps a good eye on him.

Jack Harkness ([livejournal.com profile] jackedthename)
She's just about the only person in the city who knows a good amount about who he truly is, and knows for sure that his nice-guy act is exactly that: an act. The Master doesn't exactly see her as a threat, per se, but she's someone that he needs to keep in mind when he does his evil plots. He's since kidnapped and tortured her, and she's gotten her revenge by doing exactly the same. Not exactly alack of tension there.

The Master and Sonja have a...very odd sort of friendship going. They generally get along. Sort of. They'll work together. They're both a bit on the chaotic evil side. Sonja does have a penchant for mocking the everliving hell out of the Master, though, much to his chagrin. Especially about his relationship with the Doctor.

Considering that some of Lucifer's first words to him involved calling him Koschei and taunting him about the Doctor, it's pretty obvious that the Master dislikes him quite a lot. He hates that Lucifer can get into his mind, and has no qualm about doing so and taking advantage of that. Still, the Master works with him, even if purely out of boredom now.

Lucifer ([livejournal.com profile] outsidewindows)
Like Lucifer, the Master took an automatic disliking to Raphael, starting from the whole "Koschei" thing. The two don't get along at all, and the Master would gladly like to snap her neck if given the opportunity to. Her being an angel is the only thing stopping him from going out and doing so.

Raphael ([livejournal.com profile] expunger)
A fellow Time Lord. The Master never knew her that well, but as another Gallifreyan, she's someone that he always keeps note of. As far as one of the Doctor's companions go, she isn't too bad in his eyes. Better than a human, at least.

Romanadvoratrelundar II ([livejournal.com profile] stillherown)
More of a minor annoyance than anything to him. He doesn't much care for her nor her mysteriousness, nor how she seems to have a close relationship with the Doctor. Though he senses something odd about her, he'll still always count her as just another human pet of the Doctor's, no matter what he may learn.

River Song ([livejournal.com profile] quitethespoiler)
Being an angel, Castiel is a potential threat. That, and because he seems to be keeping a close eye on the Master. His powers are enough for the Master to give pause to. Still, he'd love to mess with him.

Castiel ([livejournal.com profile] wingsandwill)
Not necessarily a huge threat in the Master's eyes, but someone to keep an eye on, as he's quite convinced that the Master killed Aang. Of course, he's right, but that's something that the Master would rather keep secret. The Master sees him as a nuisance and would happily get rid of him if he could, but alas, he's trying to behave.
