Nothing ever lasts very long in this city, but my, my, have you people made quite the mess of it this time. Will someone care to fill me in as to just how this entire fiasco got started? I'd like to know who to blame for the fact that I now have to find a way to rebuild a good quarter of my house. Physical labor has never been my thing.

Almost reminds me of a few months back. Oh, I'm getting nostalgic now. I do miss that Moriarty fellow. I wonder whatever became of the poor bastard.

[He laughs quietly, bending down to scoop them both up in his arms before starting for the kitchen and getting the kettle boiling.] Milk? Alright, fine, but you have to promise to behave later.

[He's mostly talking to himself.] I can't believe you honestly speak cat... [Though he's been picking it up slowly himself after the last few months, ridiculous as it is.]

[He proceeds to have a full conversation with the kittens while he's in the kitchen, pouring them both bowls of milk. He finally gets to the tea, absently adding a few "munchies" to the tray.]

[He can only hear bits and pieces, mostly the Doctor, but it's enough to almost make him laugh. Every moment of every day he wonders just how the hell he's gotten to a place like this, and moments like this just increase the wonderment and bafflement.]

[Finally pours out the tea and brings the tray over to the Master, sitting down beside him and nudging some of the metal pieces aside to make way for the tea tray.] How long did I sleep?

About two hours. And be careful with those.

You shouldn't have let me sleep that long. And I'm not hurting anything, relax.

[He picks up his tea cup, sipping at it.] We should invite Juliet over for dinner some time.

Perhaps, but you're doing the--no, I don't trust you with cooking.

[He ponders it for a few moments before suddenly going still.]

Oh, no.

[He laughs.] I'm not bad at cooking, you know.

[He makes the connection at the same time and goes rather pale.] Oh.

...Maybe we should go over to her house and check on her.

...What? [Now he's confused. He and the Doctor seem to be on two very different trails of thought.] ...No, she's fine, Doctor. I already checked.

Oh. [He sags slightly with relief.] Good.

...Wait, what were you thinking, then?

Something far more horrible is happening.

What?! [Now he's on the verge of panicky.]

You're domesticating me.

[It's spoken as if it really is the end of the universe. Which isn't far from the truth in the Master's mind.]

[He just blinks for a moment, caught completely by surprise. Then abruptly he starts to laugh.]

This isn't a laughing matter. I'm sitting here with you discussing inviting people over for dinner. Something is severely wrong with this picture.

[He just grins, brushing away a tear of mirth.] Oh Master, you had me so scared for a moment. And really is there anything so wrong with us acting normal for once? I'm rather content with how things are, aren't you?

That's not the point. Here I am, not having tried to take over so much as a city block in months. Ridiculous! Absolute ridiculousness! What have I become?

Calm down, you're fine. [He laughs.] I think you've been working on trying to take over me instead.

[He rolls his eyes.] Have I succeeded?

Was the sleeping in your bed with you not a tip-off?

Weeeeeeell, that may be a bit of one.

And of course the kiss on New Year's Eve, and the subsequent ones that followed. Definitely not obvious at all.

[He rolls his eyes before shyly leaning in to kiss him lightly on the lips.] Yes Master, it worked.
